Sinoku Game

SINOKU

Sinoku is a Sudoku-inspired puzzle game created to help learners visually distinguish similar Chinese characters - a challenge frequently underpracticed in traditional instruction. Characters share common components indicating meaning or pronunciation; by repeatedly scanning rows, columns, and squares, players reinforce their visual discrimination skills through structured repetition. Developed with a mobile-first approach to encourage casual play, Sinoku offers selectable character sets matching learner proficiency.

Tang Dynasty Game

TANG DYNASTY

Tang Dynasty is a choice-based interactive fiction game, developed rapidly in Twine to engage younger learners studying Chinese history at the KS3-equivalent level. Historical events—such as the rise of tea-drinking culture, anti-corruption reforms, and canal reconstruction—were woven into the narrative, bringing these topics vividly to life. AI-generated visuals and ambient sound, including scenes of farmers, canal boats, and bustling markets in Chang'an, enhanced immersion beyond text alone.

Coffee Shop Game

COFFEE SHOP EVENT HORIZON

Coffee Shop Event Horizon, my first Twine project, was developed rapidly during a four-week interactive fiction course in Shanghai, taught by an industry professional. Using whimsical, satirical humor to gently parody familiar quirks of local café culture, the game was presented live, with an audience collaboratively choosing narrative paths. This experience highlighted how interactive fiction could be unexpectedly social, expanding perceptions of the genre beyond solitary play.
